Life Coaching
Here’s how it differs from therapy:
Goal-Oriented: Life coaching is primarily focused on setting and achieving goals. Coaches work with clients to identify their aspirations, create actionable plans, and provide guidance to help them make progress toward their objectives.
Present and Future Focus: Therapy may involve exploration into past experiences while targeting cognitions and emotions to address psychological issues, improve or maintain a baseline, and often create life-long change. Life coaching typically emphasizes the present and future, helping clients assess the current situation, identify targeted outcomes, and develop strategies to complete a task or project (typically a short-term goal within a relatively defined timeline).
Targeted Audience: Life coaching is often sought by individuals who are generally mentally healthy but are looking to enhance specific areas of their lives. It’s not intended to address mental health disorders or provide therapy for psychological issues.
Accountability and Support: Coaches provide accountability and support services to help clients stay motivated and on track toward their goals. They may use techniques like regular check-ins and progress assessments.
Specific Areas: Life coaches specialize in areas such as Career Coaching, Relationship Coaching (for single individual), Health and Wellness Coaching, and more. Clients seek coaching in areas where they want to optimize potential or augment various skills.
